WEEK 32: HOPEFUL

It’s Week 32 and we are embracing being hopeful.

 

The past few months have been challenging. It’s not the first time the human race is experiencing adversity. History proves that even when life demands more than we think we can bear, we overcome difficulties over and over again. What supports us is our ability to look beyond the obstacles towards positive outcomes and a brighter future. It’s that desire and confidence, the ‘this too shall pass’ attitude which makes hardships bearable.

 

Being hopeful doesn’t mean that you are unrealistic. In fact, realistic hope allows you to confidently take steps in the expectation that not everything is going to work out. Hope fortifies you against failure, allowing you to get up and give it another go. And another one after that.

 

My invitation for this week: Write down what you are hopeful about. Think about how you have overcome challenges in the past and how you want your future to be. Having a vision is important. Find a role model, someone whose situation was seemingly without hope and who prevailed. Do something that makes a positive difference to the people around you. You develop resilience by dealing mindfully and productively with the here and now.
